Family Friendly Rafting On The Kananaskis River

Are you looking to introduce your littlest adventurers to the wonderfully wild world of whitewater rafting? Worried about tackling the killer rapids that the Kicking Horse is famous for? Hydra River Guides is pleased to offer multiple family friend trips, including our Mild Trip on the Kicking Horse in Golden, BC as well as our tours of the Kananaskis River. As a gentler alternative to the Kicking Horse, the Kananaskis is ideal for those wanting a slow and steady intro to rating. Learn more about the Kananaskis as well as Hydra’s trips below.

Welcome To The Beautiful Bow Valley
Located just 45 minutes west of Calgary, Kananaskis Country gives rafters stunning views of the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies. Flowing southeast to the Upper Kananaskis Lake, the river flows through multiple provincial parks and has a total length of 74km. Regulated by dam control, the rapids on the Kananaskis range from Class II to III and are typically easier to navigate than the Kicking Horse and is ideal for timid rafters as well as children.
