Meet the Infamous Kicking Horse
Home to some of the best rapids North America has to offer, the Kicking Horse has is a favourite for adventure seekers and rafters. Located in Golden, British Columbia, just 75 minutes from Banff, Alberta, the river gets its name from a particularly feisty horse carrying Sir James Hector during the 1958 Palliser Expedition. Hydra’s ultra exclusive River Base is situated just 25km east of Golden, making us the closest rafting operator to Banff. With Class I-IV rapids to explore, you’re sure to have an incredible time taking in the wonder that this natural playground has to offer.

Our private River Base features six acres of land and is situated right on the base of the Kicking Horse River. With readily available flush toilets, change rooms, showers, a picnic area and even beach volleyball courts, our base makes sure you can suit up and relax in comfort before and after your trip. Private parking onsite means you can leave your personal belongings behind with peace of mind as well.
