’’ I started my raft / Safety Kayaking career on the Ottawa River in '88, moved to Golden BC to work on the Kicking Horse in '92 and still think it is a great place to call home. I have been working with Hydra since '98 and look forward to getting into the lower canyon every season! I spend my winters as an ACMG Ski Guide Catskiing and Touring in the Selkirk Mountains. ’’

’’ I am the Ginger Ninja Canadian who spends his winters in NZ. I'm a keen kayaker and raft all year round - loving to share the joy of white water with guests. I also like creative writing and poetry - look out, I''ll do my best to charm my way to your heart! ’’

Jan

Guide

’’ I have been rafting for 8 seasons; on the upper Red Deer, the Jacques Cartier and the mighty Kicking Horse River. In the winter, I am a back country snowmobile guide out of Golden, BC. During the off seasons I spend my time traveling for kayaking, surfing and rock climbing. I am very excited to spend another season with the great folks at Hydra and show everyone what this beautiful river has to offer. ’’

Erik

Guide

’’ I am from Kamloops, BC and I started guiding in 2008. I have guided on the Ottawa River and Clearwater River as well as the Kicking Horse! In the winter I am a Snowboard and Ski instructor at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden. I also take a kayak trip in a different destination in the world every year. It is my goal to kayak a substantial river on every continent by the age of 30. Being out on the river makes me happy and it is my goal to share that with as many people as possible. ’’

Anthea

Guide

’’ I am originally from South Africa, lived in New Zealand and am now a Canadian! I love living here in the beautiful rockies and have been rafting on the Kicking Horse River for 5 seasons! I move from summer season to summer season - haven't seen winter in 7 years! ’’

AJ

Guide

’’ I have been guiding for 7 years. I started guided on the Ottawa River for a couple seasons before making my way west, where I have been guiding in Alberta and BC. When I'm not guiding, you'll find me kayaking, climbing, or skydiving. In the off season, I have been spending my winters either in school, traveling, or skiing. ’’

Sam

Guide

’’ All the way from Australia, I'm always chasing the endless summer. I have been guiding for a number of years now in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. During my raft trips you will probably hear me say things like 'Mate', 'Crikey', 'Bonza' and 'Strewth' a lot. If you don't know what I mean, I can translate it as we charge the River. When I'm not on the water, you can probably find me mountain biking, traveling or kiteboarding. ’’

Jaro

Guide

’’ I am originally from Czech Rep. I Started Rafting in Europe in 98. In 2010 moved to BC and after tasting what BC had to offer now I call it home. In winter I am guiding for several Cat and Heli Ski operations. For 2017 season I am looking forward to working for Hydra River Guides again. ’’

Brett

’’ Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, I have called the Rocky Mountains home for 4 years now. It is my 3rd season with Hydra and when I'm not rafting I like to spend my time in the mountains rock and ice climbing. ’’

Brendan

He loves being that first point of contact for our guests when they arrive to the river base, who are keen to experience the Kicking Horse River and all its might. Outside of work, Brendan loves to explore Golden and the surrounding area by foot or by bike. ’’

Tarn

Guide

’’ Originally from Australia, I’m here to bring the thunder from down under to the mighty Kicking Horse. After spending the past six years in beautiful British Columbia I now call this place home. When I’m not on the river I can be found on the mountain bike trails of Golden and ski guiding in the backcountry over the winter months. ’’

Glenn

’’ I’m an Australian adventurer living the dream abroad for almost 4 years. Previously lived in Germany but got sick of the schnitzels so moved to Canada. I love being in the air, water, on a trail, slope or dance floor. ’’

George

’’ Coming from a small village in England I instantly feel in love with Canada and have lived here for 4 years now. I first started as a reservations agent at Banff Adventures and have worked my way to supervisor. Now I drive the bus from Banff to the Kicking horse river to get you ready for the time of your life, make sure you try and spot me with the camera and give me your best smile! ’’

Drew

Cook / Photographer

’’ Lover of radical nature, liver for gracious nurturers. Writer, reader, videographer, biker, hiker, snowboarder. Born in the flatlands, raised by the mountains. ’’

Kyle

Guide

’’ This flat-lander prairie boy from Winnipeg Manitoba fell in love with whitewater while rafting the Kicking Horse River as a client back in 2004. That trip kick-started a rafting and paddling career that's led him throughout Manitoba, British Columbia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, California, New Zealand and the Grand Canyon. Also with over 14 years employment in a professional social work setting, when he's not helping others, he loves introducing rafters to the whitewater of the Kicking Horse. He keeps quitting his 'real' job to come back and guide for us he'll love to show you why! ’’
