Experience the Canadian Rockies with Hydra River Guides
Adventure is calling, are you ready to answer? Warm weather and sunny days are finally here, and there’s no better way to make the most of Canadian Summers than exploring the beautiful wilderness the country has to offer. For over 30 years, Hydra River Guides has welcomed adventure seekers from all over Alberta (and the world) to our corner of the Rocky Mountains. Located just 75 minutes away from the bustling mountain town of Banff, Golden BC is home to some of the best white water rapids that Canada has to offer, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to up their fun this summer!
With breathtaking views, epic class I-IV rapids, and plenty of laughs just waiting to be had, there’s no better way to make the best of our warm weather than tackling the Kicking Horse with Hydra River Guides! If you’ve never rafted before and are looking to make memories that will last a lifetime, below are a few details you need to know!
No Two Rides are the Same!
One of the best parts of rafting in the Canadian Rockies is the fact that our rivers, including the infamous Kicking Horse, are glacier-fed. Not only does this make the water cooler (perfect for hot summer days!), it also means that the water level routinely fluctuates in time with the temperature, rainfall, and general timing of the season. For rafters, this means that no two trips are the same and you’ll always find something new to experience, even if you’ve rafted with us many times. For first-time rafters…there’s no need to feel intimidated! Even though the river can be wild (which is half the fun!), you can rest easy knowing that you’re safe and sound in the hands of our highly experienced guides that have rafted the river in all kinds of conditions and come equipped with ample training to keep you and your whole crew steady through the whole trip.
No Experience Necessary
Eager to try something new this year but feeling a little on the fence about rafting? Take the chance and dive right in! The Hydra River Guides team welcomes rafters with all levels of experience, and there’s nothing our guides love more than welcoming first-timers. Our rafting trips and packages are designed to make the river easy to navigate for everyone, meaning that young adventurers and experienced river veterans alike are more than welcome on our rafts!
Note: Although our trips are accessible for all levels, we do highly recommend that all participants be able to swim and comfortable in and around water. We also recommend that rafters do have some level of physical fitness, and those with shoulder or back conditions may wish to be aware that paddling can be strenuous, especially when the rapids pick up in the middle canyon. If you have any concerns about your ability to participate safely, our team is more than happy to answer any questions and advises consulting with a doctor beforehand in the event of existing medical conditions that could cause a risk. We take your safety seriously and ask that you do as well for everyone’s well-being on the water!
The 2021 Season Has Arrived!
Our 2021 season kicked off in June and we’re excited to welcome you to the river all summer long! Peak rapids tend to hit around mid-June through the rest of July, and with warm weather here to stay, we’re pleased to guide you down the river until water levels start to dip back down in September.
